Holidays represent love, peace and joy to many families. However, for some individuals, the holidays are a symbol of sadness because it’s a reminder of who or what they loss. Whether you have lost a family member, going through a divorce/breakup, moved to a different city alone, job loss, or a decline in finances etc….moments of unhappiness are felt during the holiday season. Grief, is a common emotion that is encountered and I want to encourage you, with hope for the holidays.
If you are experiencing a tough moment right now, hold fast to faith because all seasons change and bring about something new. If we reference the book of Job from the Bible, he encountered a period of heartbreaks. Job lost his family, possessions and good health. Although he was distraught, Job continued to be a faithful servant. At the end of his trying season, God ended up giving Job twice as many blessings and he lived a joyful life for the remainder of his time. This story is a sweet reminder that brokenness is not permanent and one day your heart will smile again.
God is not surprised by the events we face on earth. For instance, the enemy had to gain permission from God to test Job. Just like God knew what Job was going to battle with before it occurred, God is also aware of the situation transpiring in your life. He is cognizant of everything that operates under the heavens, even before they were thought of. Rest in the fact that he knows you are hurting and has you in the palm of his hand. The very person who speaks to the storms and tells them to cease, is the same person whom can immediately change your sad days to brighter days. He can hold your hand and give you comfort through this holiday season. Most importantly he can heal your brokenness and make you whole.
My dear brother or sister know that I am there for you and stand with you during this difficult time in your life. I have gone through my own moments of mourning a loss during the holidays. I did not feel the “holiday spirit” although everyone around me was joyful. It is so hard to celebrate when you have a broken heart. However, I surrendered the area to God, allowed him to come into my heart, mend all of the broken pieces, and restore my soul. Just like he did it for me, Job, and many others, he will do the same for you. Trust the process, this season will not last always! Below you will find some messages of hope to encourage your spirit during this time.
